Agnihotra Meditation for Healing the Atmosphere.

What is Agnihotra Meditation?

Agnihotra Meditation

Agnihotra Meditation for Healing the Atmosphere. Agnihotra is an Ayurveda Homa (fire) meditation. It’s done precisely at sunrise and sunset. This heals the atmosphere and has been scientifically proven to reverse pollution. Agnihotra also heals people. Word meaning:(Agni) is a Sanskrit word that means fire, (Hotra) means offering.

My Path to Agnihotra

Most of you already know that I’m a regular meditator. Meditation is a priority in my daily life. And I also teach meditation, do healing meditations, and teach environmental awareness classes. I teach in Atlanta, where I live, and other cities and states too.

I learned this ancient Vedic Science practice from my teacher, Sri Charles Davis. He’s the  founder of Shanti Villa Institute in Tuskegee, AL. Shanti Villa Institute is an eco-Center, Homa farm, and Ayurveda medicine school. Sri Charles has been teaching Agnihotra, Homa Therapy, and environmental stewardship since the 1970’s. His mission is to teach people how to preserve and heal the environment.

I regularly attend  training sessions with Sri Charles at his 15 acre farm in Tuskegee, AL, to learn as much as I can about Agnihotra, Homa Therapy, and other Ayurveda medicine practices . He’s an excellent teacher: wise, humble, and very knowledgeable about many scientific, spiritual, and environmental subjects. I am now an Agnihotra teacher at Shanti Villa Institute.

I love Agnihotra because not only is there a deep spiritual element to it but also there is scientific evidence that it heals the atmosphere! So my geek side gets fed as much as my spiritual side. Scroll down for more details and links to scientific studies.

Learn more about Agnihotra at Vishwa Foundation  and this Agnihotra info site:

The Vishwa Foundation. It’s a nonprofit medical, health and wellness center, and Homa farm located in Solapur, India that teaches environmental awareness and Agnihotra. Dr. Purushottam who runs the foundation is the grandson of Guru Paramsadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj, a Yogi that revived Agnihotra to the modern world and the U.S. The Guru, Paramsadguru Shree Gajanan Maharaj was Shree Vasant Paranjpe’s teacher. And Shree Vasant was Shree Charles’ teacher. I was fortunate to attend a teaching of Dr. Purushottam when he visited Atlanta recently. My spiritual group plans on visiting the ashram and his center next year.

What Agnihotra Has Done For Me

Agnihotra Meditation for Healing the Atmosphere

Adding this to my meditation practice has been very beneficial spiritually and physically. I have increased energy, clearer thinking, healed a health condition, and the trees in my yard have grown more. My friends that practice Agnihotra report similar experiences.

I can’t begin to convey how much that Agnihotra has changed my life for the best. I feel like a new woman and  more connected to The Creator and to nature than ever before. The energy of nature has tapped deeply into my spirit and I am humbled to be an active spiritual part of the circle of healing and renewal of the Earth.

Agnihotra Scientific Studies: Vedic Scientific Solution to Pollution

As an environmentalist, I’m happy to be practicing Agnihotra since it’ a natural and powerful way to combat pollution. Knowing that there is a simple solution to climate change that I do every day is empowering. I am directly involved with resetting nature to its proper order.  The Vedic science of Agnihotra and Homa Therapy conclusively shows through scientific studies that the atmosphere is cleansed with this practice.

The ashes from the Agnihotra meditation is extremely beneficial to crops and plants, and reverses plant disease. A portion of the Amazon Rain Forest was  restored after being  riddled with Black Sigatoka plant disease, through the performance of Agnihotra and Homa Farming.

Four types of gases are produced from Agnihotra. They are:

  • Ethylene Oxide
  • Propylene Oxide
  • Formaldehyde
  • Butapropiolactone

Scientific studies show that Agnihotra heals the atmosphere and planet.  Go to Google Scholar to see a long list of scientific studies conducted by scientists from all over the world. Here are a few listed here:

Effect of Agnihotra Energy Field on Water Purification by the AIMS College. Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge Vol. 1 (1), January 2015, pp. 63-68

Scientific Studies Show Agnihotra and Homa Farming:

  • Decreases microbes in the air
  • Reduces SO2 air pollution
  • Kills bacteria
  • Purifies water
  • Makes plants grow faster(excellent natural fertilizer)
  • Reduces skin diseases in animals and humans.
  • Increases plant yield
  • Cuts harvest time in half

*Studies also show the effectiveness of using for treatment of addiction. *

There are a lot of other environmental benefits!

Agnihotra: Cleaning the Atmosphere, Climate Change, and Global Warming

Agnihotra Meditation for Healing the Atmosphere

It’s important to perform Agnihotra while also:

  • Recycling and repurposing waste
  • Reducing waste generated
  • Reducing use of fossil fuels
  • Reducing the use of plastics, esp. single use plastic
  • Eliminating toxins produced from conventional agricultural farming

And there is a long list of other green environmental activities to adopt. This is especially important since the U.S. National Climate Assessment Study conducted by NASA, The EPA, The Dept. of Interior, The Dept. of Agriculture, The Department of Energy, The Smithsonian Institute, and several other public and private organizations, state that multiple lines of independent evidence confirm that human activities are the primary cause of the global warming of the past 50 years.”  This report is based on scientific peer reviewed research.

Not sure why the seriousness of the climate issues isn’t on breaking news every night.  To all the folks out there that say humans aren’t causing climate change: YOU ARE VERY MUCH MISTAKEN.

Note: Monsanto was one of the committee members for the study. David Gustafson is listed in the U.S. Climate Assessment as the representative from Monsanto. When I looked at his LinkedIn page on Sept. 24, 2015 he has that he was a Senior Fellow for the Monsanto Company from Aug. 1985 to July 2014. He has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering and works with scientists on improving methods that measure how climate change affects sustainable nutrition security.
